The 17-day Melbourne International Arts Festival hosts an
extraordinary program of work from some of the world's leading
contemporary artists. The festival will showcase more than
90 events, comprising 19 world premieres and 28 Australian
premieres, with free and ticketed events geared to young and
old alike, from icon Patti Smith and bold new dance works from
Batsheva Dance Company (above) to the world premiere of
Hidden Republic, a unique collaboration between the acclaimed
music ensemble The Black Arm Band and Melbourne Symphony
Orchestra and the Opening Night Celebration in Federation Square.
This remarkable program of free performances, installations and
exhibitions will literally transform Melbourne into a global art city.
And for each night of the festival Chris Doyle's Ecstatic City will
convert St Kilda Road's NGV International into a veritable moving
sculpture of light. Plus, 21:100:100 will present a free exhibition
of 100 works by 100 sound artists produced in the 21st century,
the first of its kind to explore and chronicle the extraordinary
developments that have occurred in contemporary sound art.

Lady GaGa
The Fame
Lady GaGa made a name for herself with the
infectious dance-pop party song `Beautiful Dirty
Rich'. On The Fame, it's as if the 22 year old took two
parts dance-pop, one part electro-pop and one part
rock with a splash of disco. The first single, `Just
Dance', gets the dance floor rocking with softer
tracks such as the Queen-influenced `Brown Eyes'
and the break-up song, `Nothing I can Say (eh eh)'.

Ne-Yo
Year of the Gentleman
On Grammy-award winner Ne-Yo's third album,
the songwriter has constructed a suite of songs
written over the course of travels through Europe
and influenced by his fascination with the Rat Pack.
Harking back to a late-'60s retro sound, it includes
the beautiful `So You Can Cry' and the amazing
`Stop This World' which may well be hailed
as one of the most beautiful love songs in years.
