5 BUSINESS SUccESS tIpS
from Katherine Sampson,
founder and managing director,
Healthy Habits Sandwich Bars
1
Surround yourself with an
amazing team.
Anything is possible
with the right team. I always say that
I employ people who are smarter than
me because I learn from them.
2
take a chance and just DO It!
Don't ever live with regrets. If I die
tomorrow, I'll have given life a go.
Although I work too hard and don't have
time for myself, I don't sit back and
wonder what it would be like to run my
own business. Give your dreams a go.
3
Network, network, network.
Approach entrepreneurs and successful
businesspeople and `pick their brains'.
Attend seminars where you can listen
and learn from amazing people. Pick up
the phone and ask someone you're
inspired by to give you half an hour of
their time you'd be surprised at how
many are happy to do so.
4
Have mentors and take on
business coaches.
From the very
beginning of my business life, I have
always taken on business coaches.
These people look into my business from
the outside with a fresh set of eyes.
5
Be passionate about what you
do in life.
You have to love what you
do, otherwise it's hard to get out of bed.
It's much easier to work hard and throw
yourself into your business when you're
truly passionate about what you do.
One way to
beat the banks
at their own game
is to maintain your
current home loan
repayments, even
if interest rates
go down in the
next few months.
The banks are
unlikely to pass
on in full any cuts
the Reserve Bank
makes to rates,
so paying off your
mortgage faster
is one way to get
sweet revenge.
Red hot savings
If you never seem to get around to saving money,
set up an automatic weekly deduction to come out
of your regular bank account and into a high-interest
savings account. Save just $30 a week and in just
a little more than three months you'll be able to afford
this drop-dead gorgeous pair of $400 shoes from
Gary Castles. Automatic deductions take the thinking
out of saving and you won't even notice the difference.

convenience at a cost
It's tempting to use SMS to do your
banking, but keep in mind that
doing so can attract data usage
fees, as well as bank fees. Some
banks offer balance checks and
transaction information via SMS
just be sure to check how much it
costs before making it a habit.
